We are extremely happy to announce that Marco Tomaso has accepted the role of Head Coach of QAST for 2019.
Marco returns this season with his extensive knowledge, race experience and enthusiasm to this new role and we feel very fortunate to have him on our team.
Marco has worked as QAST Head Coach for the U14/16 team for the past five years. In his new position as Head Coach he will oversee the direction of coaching for the entire club. He will continue to be in charge of U16/U14 age group. His duties will include coordinating the race training programme, coaching development and management and race organisation.
As an ex-ski racer and long-term QAST coach we look forward to the direction he takes our programme this season. He will be supported in his role by Damien O’Connell, the man behind the scenes, taking on the new role of Programme Director and responsible for administrative tasks previously handled by the Head Coach. This appointment adds an incredible amount of value to our programme.
We are confident we have the right mix of knowledge, passion, and dedication to achieve our goals for the coming season.
For those who don’t know, Marco has been a Ski Cross World Cup athlete since 2010 for Italy. In 2016 Marco placed 10 times in top 32 from 12 starts. His World Champs career best result was 8th in Voss (NOR) in 2013. Marco did not qualify for Sochi 2014 Olympic Games because of injury in January 2014. Prior to Ski Cross he was a Europa Cup Alpine Racer for Team Italy. His best alpine career results were, 2 times Italian Junior Champion (GS,SG), 2 times 2nd placed Italian Junior Champion (DH, COMB), 3rd placed Italian Junior Champion (DH), Italian Super-G Champion, 29 times top 5 and 55 times top 10 in international F.I.S.
