International Athletes 2024

"I had an amazing experience training with QAST. The terrain and snow conditions were perfect preparation for the World Cup season and the coaches and athletes were all awesome and a pleasure to work with! After training with QAST I had my best season ever, winning the ANC slalom title, qualifying twice on the World Cup and making the US World Championships team." - Robby Kelley

QAST offers a program for International Athletes looking for southern winter training opportunities. Every year we welcome top athletes from around the world to train with our club.

Where are we?

QAST is located in Queenstown, in the South Island of New Zealand. Queenstown is known as the adventure capital of the world with a range of activities from skiing, white water rafting, sky diving and the home of bungy jumping.

Where do we train?

QAST is fortunate to be able to train at two mountains - Coronet Peak and Remarkables Ski Area. The race arena on Coronet Peak is known as one of the southern hemisphere's top alpine ski training areas and is regularly frequented by national teams from the Northern Hemisphere. Coronet Peak is the main training mountain for FIS athletes with younger age groups dividing their time between Coronet Peak and The Remarkables.

Race Arena on Coronet Peak runs a T-Bar lift from the bottom of the courses to the start ensuring maximum number of training runs each day. A cafe at the base of the T-Bar ensures athletes are also conveniently placed for breaks and meals.

Both mountains enjoy weather conditions that allow them to be open for training most days of the season.

When is the New Zealand Ski Season?

The New Zealand Ski Season runs from early to mid June through to early October.

How do I apply?

Due to a restriction on the number of athletes who can train with QAST on the mountain, admission is selective and based on past demonstration of strong athletic achievement and period of time committed to train with the club.

We have multiple blocks throughout the season available for sign up to the program. This enables athletes to have a productive training block without causing disruption to the full time groups.

Block 1: 15th June - 21st July

Block 2: 22nd July - 11th August

Block 3: 12th August - 1st September

Block 4: 2nd September - 29th September

What is the cost?

$3000 per block
